2006 Wichita Coin & Stamp Show (Fall)

This is the second time I have attended this show (the last being the 2006 Spring show, earlier this year).  It's about as far as I want to drive for a regional show, but the turn out was good, considering it was competing with the Denver ANA show that was wrapping up on the same day - all in all, it was well attended by people on both sides of the tables.

Most coin dealers focused primarily on US coins, but there was a couple of tables aimed at world coin collectors.  The inventory was good, although no Spanish Colonial coins to speak of.  There were some slabbed 8 Escudos priced way outside my reach, and a few Pillar 2 Reales that weren't in the grade I collect.  British coins were far more plentiful.  I picked up a LIMA type George II shilling in a condition I was satisfied with, and a George II sixpence with outstanding luster.

Overall, it was a decent show.  I had to drive a little over three hours round trip, and I felt the show was well worth attending.  I have added this one to my list of annual shows to attend again.

You will find approximately 45 tables on an average turn out, about half of those are stamp dealers.  The crowd is steady though out the day, although peak attendance is around noon to 2:00 PM.  There did not appear to be any scheduled events, raffle, etc.
