2005 Topeka Coin Show

Good Show, and close to home.  Unfortunately, I was feeling poorly this weekend, and I didn't spend nearly as much time browsing the inventory as I was hoping for.  I did volunteer to watch the door for a while, and greet people and sell raffle tickets - this show is sponsored by my local coin club.

I think there was close to 20 tables - it generally runs about half the size of the Kansas City shows in October.  The show lasts two days (Saturday & Sunday), and I think the best attendance tends to be the first day - which is when I attended.  I'd like to see these shows get a stronger audience from both sides of the table, since it only happens once a year.  Everyone I spoke to, both buyers and sellers, said they were pretty satisfied with the business.

There was not a whole lot to be had in my particular interests, but there were many coins to look over, and the traffic was not so heavy that people could not spend time at all the tables.  I didn't sell or trade, only purchased - and then I spent less than half of what I intended to.  I picked up a new large cent and a Japanese half sen from the later Meiji Years (found it in a bargain box, and I likes the dragons).
