ANA National Money Show:  Kansas City

I was pretty lucky this show was so close to home.  It gave me an opportunity to attend an ANA show, which was quite an experience.  Most of the coins were outside my price range, but it gave me a chance to see many coins that I would probably never otherwise see.  The coin dealers were, by and large, trading in US coins, but I found some pieces (like I would go home empty handed).  For the most part, I tried to stay out of the way, which wasn't easy, because it was packed.  Even though I attended on the second day, it was Saturday, so probably the most popular.

I spent about 4 hours at the show, which didn't seem like nearly enough time to do it justice.  I picked up several of the pieces now shown on my Spanish Colonial page, and someone working the show gave me an elongated buffalo nickel that had been created for advertising the event.  I also took this as a chance to renew my ANA membership, which I had let expire a few months back.

This was the third coin show I have attended, and I felt a little disappointed in that I was too inexperienced for something this size.  But in this location, beggars can't be choosers.  That I was able to attend a show like this, at all, was a fortunate experience.
